Tiago César Moreira Pereira (born 4 July 1975 in Trofa, Porto District), simply Tiago (Portuguese pronunciation: [tiˈaɡu]), is a Portuguese footballer who plays for C.D. Trofense as a defensive midfielder.

Football career

Tough-tackling Tiago started his professional career with F.C. Famalicão (1993–95), and went on to represent C.S. Marítimo (1995 – December 1996), S.L. Benfica (January 1997–98), União de Leiria (2000–02), F.C. Porto (2002–03, winning the 2002–03 UEFA Cup, and finishing the following season on loan with Leiria) and Boavista F.C. (2004–07).

In July 2007, he returned to União Leiria. Two years later, after being instrumental in the club's return to the top flight after one year out, only missing one league game, he moved to another club in level two, C.D. Trofense, which had just moved in the opposite direction.

Tiago also had abroad stints with Rayo Vallecano (1998–99) and CD Tenerife (1999–2000) (both in the Spanish second division), helping the Madrid side promote to La Liga.
